Ryan Butler

Ryan obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2020 from the University of Alberta. He also completed a Master of Arts in 2017 from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2014 from Vancouver Island University. His Master’s thesis examined how the political theories of Hannah Arendt could inform contemporary politics on climate change.

Ryan strives to be an active member of the community. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Vancouver Island Crisis Society, a charity that provides suicide prevention services. While in law school, Ryan volunteered with Student Legal Services where he served as an agent for low-income persons facing summary convictions. During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he volunteered as a support worker at Camp Hornby, an annual summer camp for children with visual impairments.

Ryan joined Heath Law LLP as a Summer Student in 2019 and returned to the firm in 2020 as an Articling Student. When outside of the office, he enjoys playing hockey, hiking, biking, and snowboarding.
